Ysgol Llanhari is a Lead School for Initial Teacher Education with the Athrofa, University of Wales Trinity Saint David and as a school play a key role in providing experiences for prospective new teachers following the new ITE programmes.
We lead a network of Welsh-medium schools in the South East who offer placements to trainee teachers. The programme covers various aspects, from presentations by Llanhari staff on Bridging days and first-hand experience within the classroom. Llanhari’s secondary and primary staff contribute to the training programme.
As a 3-19 school we offer prospective teachers a rich and inclusive experience which is part of the partnership with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Excellent teaching and learning are central to the vision of Ysgol Llanhari and all staff are aware of this and are committed to maintaining and raising standards. They are therefore able to offer specialist experiences to the trainee teachers.
There is a strong ethos of self-improvement and support for professional learning within Llanhari and we are sure that this benefits the trainee teachers who become part of our organization. There is strong support for the trainee teachers within the school as we as a school are used to reflecting on practice in order to raise standards. Committing to this partnership is also a fantastic opportunity for existing school staff to develop professionally.
